PDF

This compact caliper holder was created for people that 1) always want a pair of calipers within arms reach, 2) don't want to waste desk space keeping them at arms reach, and 3) have an Apple Cinema Display begging to be more useful.

A limited audience? Yes. But if that's YOU, enjoy. ✨

The caliper holder mounts to the side of an Apple 27" LED Cinema Display with double-sided very high bond (VHB) tape. The design is optimized for left-side mounting, but if you'd like a right-side version, let me know.

“Isn't this just a fancy hollow rectangle?,” you say.

Kind of. This design is my 5th revision and incorporates lessons learned from using variations on my monitor over the last year. For example, small tabs overlap the front and back of the monitor to prevent the calipers from twisting and weakening the adhesive bond. Lots of little things that together make this a simple but reliable little organization helper…for it's very specific and narrow purpose. Feel free to adapt. 🤷‍♂️

Printing Instructions

There are two 3MF files available to print:

  1. With a cutout slot to accommodate caliper thumb screw (helping calipers sit lower in holder)
  2. Without a cutout slot (caliper thumbscrew rests on holder -- see example in images above)

Pick your style and print vertically like a tower.

No supports necessary.

Printed in PLA with 0.25mm layer height and 100% infill density (very little infill in this print, infill density does not have much impact). Printed with skirt, no brim or raft.

After printing, using ¾" VHB tape (or similar cut to size) to mount to the side of monitor.
