Recently a friend of mine linked me the original model that i remixed this from as i did not have a bench power supply, and do not really have the cash for buying a proper one, so i decided to do this as my first “big” electronics/3d printing project.
The seller i bought the LTC3780 from recommended to add active cooling if using the board over 70w, so i decided to add a cooling fan, i happened to need 24v 50mm fans for another project, so i decided to add one of those in this housing.
I decided to style the grills in a way that reminds me of some old battery chargers i used to work with, as the whole housing already reminded me of those.
The material list remains largely the same except for the addition of the fan, which will require an additional switch and M3/M4 nuts and bolts, the housing has a place to glue an M3 nut, but i found that with some work an M4 bolt will just screw into the housing, removing the need for a nut entirely.
Internally the wiring of course also stays much the same except for the fan, which is wired to a switch, which is wired to the first switch which turns the board on, i decided to put the fan on a separate switch as the input voltage for the LTC3780 can be up to 36v, while the fan is rated for 24v.
