Spool holders using PTFE tubes were chewed up by cardboard spools after some time and I had an all metal bambulab spool holder lying around…
(For RatRig V-Core 4 owners : the adapter width + the length of the Bambulab spool holder stills clear the bed, so it's fully compatible with the original spool holder location)
Print instructions:
- no supports
- part already oriented in .stl (flat side down)
- standards RatRig print settings : 4x walls, 0.2 layer height, 25% infill
- material : if enclosed, preferably ABS or ASA
BOM:
- 1x adapter (printed part)
- 1x Bambulab spool holder
- 2x m3 Inserts (5,7 x 3 x 4,6 mm preferably, but with enough heat, any m3 insert size should fit :D)
- 2x m3x10mm Hex Socket Head Cap Screws (SHCS)
- 2x m6x12mm Hex Socket Head Cap Screws (SHCS)
- 2x m6 T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series
Assembly instructions:
- Print the adapter
- Press the m3 inserts from the back of the adapter until flush with the surface
- Insert m3 screws through the adapter to clean the holes from any melted plastic
- Remove the m3 screws
- Fix the Bambulab spool holder on the adapter using the 2x m3x10mm screws
- Insert the m6x12mm screws through the adapter, head should be flush with the printed part surface
- Screw some threads the T-Nut on the m6x12 screws
- Place the assembly on the 3030 extrusion
- Tigthen the m6x12 screws
- Enjoy your new spool holder
