When additional strength is required; for example, locations with high winds, or covered domes that could experience more than 20cm of snow, these new hub designs will help along with the installation of additional secure caps and ridged ball connectors.

New Design:

Improved design for both 5-way & 6-way geodesic hubs which provides better retention and protection of the connector balls, but also limiting the movement of the struts. A ridged ball connector design is also provided to help secure the connector balls from movement. The secure caps will help prevent the ball connectors from popping out-out and are mounted on the inside of the hubs; i.e. wingnut side. For added rigidity and retention, place the washer inside the indent portion of the cap, with the sharper edge of the washer against the connector balls. A proven commercial design of the secure caps are available through hubsTM; https://buildwithhubs.co.uk/ Check the source installation info for more details.
