During a power outage a few months ago, I realized that the mini white flashlights that I had had one flaw – they ruined my night vision. Here is my solution to that problem: a dual color mini flashlight.
With a red LED and a white LED, you can preserve your night vision for midnight bathroom treks (useful for camping and power outages) while still having a white light handy. Or you can use two LEDs of the same color for more light. (Or you can rock two random colors for a ceiling light show)
Materials: Two LEDs and a coin cell battery (CR2032).
Printing:
PLA, although any should work
Any infill
0.1mm layer height, although 0.2 should also work
Assembly:
On each LED, bend both pins outward and then inward so that the distance between the pins is roughly 5 mm and they are parallel.
Then bend the positive (longer) pin inward a little bit so that the end is less than 3mm from the other pin.
It should look like:
Now slide the switch onto the positive pin, and slide it onto the battery. Make sure the positve pin is on the positive side of the battery.
With both done, it should look like:
Place the battery and LEDs in the the base with the switches pointing upwards.
