While it's theoretically possible to use 3d printed 15mm “marbles”, I wouldn't recommend it for a few reasons. One big reason is improved smoothness. The MAIN reason is they have the ideal weight to pinch the paper. Ball Bearings may be smooth, but their weight can sometimes be an issue. Printed “marbles” tend to be rough and might not have enough weight to hold the paper. If you try an alternative to marbles, let me know how it works.
