Use this to weigh down or hang items on your canopy or EZ-up when staking it down isn't an option.

We often do motorcycle events where we are relegated to “Van Camping” on asphalt and can't stake down the canopy. After having to chase or hold down the canopy whenever the wind whipped up, I devised this piece to give a me mount point to hang our collapsible weight bags that we use to keep the canopy on the ground. After first use, I quickly realized that these hangers could also be used for other items…. jackets, hats, towels, water bottles…. nearly anything that you can hang on a hook. And, since our weight bags are designed to hold water and dumped out after each use (for storage), I made a second bracket that just has a hole for a rope and stays attached to the bags…… no hunting for brackets or bags, they are connected and always stored together.

PLA is not your friend in this application….. weight and summer heat will deform it to the point that its unusable. ASA/ABS don't work well either as they are hard and tend to slide down the legs with any movement from its support… (read: as the wind moves the canopy, the bracket will work its way down the leg) PETG is is the way to go…. Withstands the heat but is soft enough to “grab” the legs of your canopy and not slide down it.

The settings that seemed to work well for me:

2 Perimeters with 20% cubic infill, fuzzy skin, and 3 layers top and bottom.

Prints in about an hour. 2 sizes, an “Upper” leg and “Lower leg” (28mm/23mm) so the jacket can hang high, and the weight bags hang at ankle level where they belong… also allows us to lower the canopy at night without having to move the bags.

Enjoy, and show the Love by posting a make…
