Recently got a MegaDrive 2 from FB Marketplace and didnt come with a power adaptor. Saw a few people have converted to power from USBC. Most seem to use a USB PD set to 9v since the original power adaptor was 9v however the MD runs on 5v.
I saw RetroSix sell a Clean Power board that uses 5v, so I followed their guide to bypass the reg and diode. Their board didnt look to have any capacitors, just some resistors which I assume was for the LED's. Their guide: https://www.retrosix.wiki/cleanpower-usb-c-mega-drive-2
I used some cheap USBC sockets: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006044405766.html
I designed this adaptor to hold everything. Was a lot more involved than I initially thought due to the lack of mounting points. I wanted it to be a no cut mod ideally and apart from removing the original DC jack and bypass voltage regs etc theres no cutting of the case or original shield.
