AMS desiccant containers funnels

I printed the v3 desiccant boxes by G.design, today, and promptly spilled desiccant on my floor with a funnel that was designed for something else.

the entrance on the side containers is small, I wanted this funnel to fit snugly in—without making you remove the lid.

because you have to hold the smaller funnel in place if you use it with the main container, I added a larger funnel that fits snugly into that one, too.

entirely coincidentally, the smaller funnel stacks neatly inside the larger funnel.

size (in case you want to use them for something else)

since they don't have corners, I measured the largest dimension in both directions

  • smaller funnel
    • 15mm x 21.4mm (small end, outside measurement)
    • 56mm x 62mm (large end, inside measurement)
  • larger funnel
    • 22.2mm x 42mm (small end, outside measurement)
    • 64mm x 83mm (large end, inside measurement)

printing — vase mode!!!!!!!!!!!11!1!!

I got lousy results in a test version by printing normally, and tried vase mode.  it turned out great.  so, print settings:

  • please print with the top of the funnel down on the print bed—the 3MF and STL files should be oriented, but the STEP files are not
  • no brim/support needed
  • vase mode (in Orca slicer, this is a setting on the plate called “spiral vase”)
  • outer wall 1mm (in Orca slicer, this is under “Quality” on the object)

the 3MF files should have these already set, but please confirm.

remixes?

as always, I included STEP files to facilitate remixes.  if there's any interest, I'll clean up my Fusion file and post that, too.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

I measured the entrance to the v3 side container, and designed a funnel based on that.  it fits snugly into the side container without removing the lid; it also works fine for the main container.
