I have a set of these lovely OXO measuring spoons with magnets in them to hold them together in the drawer. After mounting a Skadis board in the kitchen, I figured it would be nice to have the serving spoons attached to it since I have my spices on there anyways.

This model uses eight 6x2mm magnets, two per spoon, as I found one wasn't quite enough for a strong hold. I'm happy to make more versions for different magnet sizes, not sure what most people have on hand.

Hardware needed

For mounting, this uses the excellent T-nuts mounting system: https://www.printables.com/model/228663-t-nuts-for-ikea-skadis-pegboards

There are 3 mounting holes used total, which means you need some hardware: 3x M2.5 nuts and 3x M2.5x16mm screws. I purchased this M2.5 hardware set on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082XPZV1V. See the linked T-nuts post for more info.

You will need eight 6x2mm magnets. I used this set from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CBRVF4PN. No glue is needed, these are locked into the model with printed clips.

Of course you also need the measuring spoons :)

Printing

I've included step files for precise printing, along with the original Fusion 360 project in case you want to make any adjustments. Please excuse the sloppy design steps…

For one holder, print the following quantities of items:

  • 1x holder base.step
  • 4x holder top.step
  • 3x Skadis T-Nut M2.5.step

No supports are needed for any models. Mine generated a brim for the base piece and it comes off quite easily, but honestly I don't think it's necessary. See the image below for how the plate should look. Make sure your objects are in the same orientation!

Assembly

1. Start by taking a pair of magnets, sticking them together, and checking the polarity with the measuring spoons. Insert them into the slot in the holder, like so. Picture is taken from a prototype, but the magnet location is the same.

Then simply take the little top piece and clip it into place. It may take a little force. Test the polarity again to make sure the measuring spoon sticks. If not, you can remove the top piece with some pliers.

Do this for each of the 4 slots. Once done, the base should look like this:

2. Assemble the T-nuts onto the base. Start by taking a M2.5 nut, laying it on the table, then pushing the printed T-nut onto it. Then put a screw through the front of the frame and attach the T-nut on the back side. Hold the screw in place with an Allen wrench to make it easier to attach the T-nut. You want some slack on the whole assembly since you still need to attach it to the Skadis pegboard. Repeat for each of the 3 holes/t-nuts.

3. Line up the T-nuts vertically so they'll fit through the Skadis pegboard holes, then tighten the screws. See sample T-nuts assembly video below if needed. You're done!
