This reusable spool's inner hub is 76mm in diameter.  The traditional reusable spools are 81mm in diameter.  The standard spool of 3D filament hub is approximately 88mm in diameter.   All was well until the one day I received a spool where it's inner hub was slightly bigger than only 76mm in diameter.  As you can tell a 76mm diameter spool will not fit on an 81 mm diameter hub.  So none of my reusable spools would fit.  The ones I've downloaded and printed (honeycomb pattern) and one that I bought from an online 3D printing Enterprise.

So I downloaded another one based on the filament's manufacture.  That was a big mistake!  The hub was even bigger than the standard 81 mm hub.  For this reason I will not name the filament's manufacture as that is misleading and probably fluctuates in their spools of 3D filament.  So after being burnt on that and unable to trust other peoples designs with misleading filament manufactures I decided to design my own with a spider web look.  Actually surprised no one has done this already.  I looked (but not super hard).

This spool will snugly fit those smaller hub spools (assuming they're approx. 76mm in diameter.  Standards change or there are no standards for spool hub sizes).  And of course will fit what I call the “Standard” spool hub size (88mm).  If you prefer the “snug” fit, I also created an adapter sleeve that will slide over this 76mm hub and fit the standard spool (88mm) snugly without a bunch of play.  One spool to fit them all! (for now).  I also created an adapter to bring up the diameter of the 76mm hub to the standard hub size of the other reusuable spools (3D printed or purchased for a 3D printing store) of 81mm.  But honestly this adapter doesn't really make sense and isn't needed, as you can of course put a 88mm spool hub on a 76mm hub ; unless that's too much “play” for you then this adapter may be what you need.  It basically just makes the hub size of the standard reusable spools that you can 3D print or purchase online.

The 3D filament that I use for my reusable hubs are the ones that come on cardboard.  I simply tear off one wheel side exposing the filament and hub.  Then I slip the hub onto the reusuable spool.  Very quick and easy and no need to invest in a filament respooler transfer gadget.

Hope you enjoy!  I also hope to see mutli-color reprints of this out in the wild!

I have include formats step & stl ; there is no difference between them.  The choice is yours whichever format you prefer to print with.
