— DESCRIPTION

Replacement body mount system for the Mini-Z AWD (MA020). May work with RWD chassis as well, but I haven't tested that.

The standard body mounts require the screws mounted to the chassis to be repeatedly removed and replaced, which will eventually wear out the mounting holes. This new body system only requires the base piece to be installed into the existing mounting holes once. Future body changes only require the attached mounting piece to be replaced.

— BODIES

The following bodies currently have modeled body mounts:

Subaru 22b STI

Nizzan Fairlady 240z

Toyota GR Yaris

Nissan GT-R R35

Nissan Skyline R32

Mazda RX-7 FC

The parametric Autodesk Fusion file is also available in this project if you want to make a body mount for a different body. If you do, be sure to share on Printables as a remix so the library can be expanded for everyone!

— USING THE .f3d FILE

To make your own body mount, open the included “mini z Body Mount.f3d” project in Fusion. Go to Modify → Change Parameters. The five starred parameters should be all you need to change for a new body style. All parameters can be directly measured from the Kyosho body mount that comes with each body. There is also a parameter (not starred) called “tol” that describes your printer's tolerance, and affects dimensions that interact with other parts (e.g, hole diameters, the lip insert). These parameters are described below.

NOTE: The entire design is parametric, so you should be able to change any dimension you want if you want to, e.g., design an RWD version.

mount_height - The total height (y-axis in model) of the entire original Kyosho mount.

mount_length - The total length (z-axis in model) of the entire original Kyosho mount.

mount_insertLength - The length (z-axis in model) of the portion that inserts into the body.

mount_insertWidth -  The width (x-axis in model) of the portion that inserts into the body.

mount_insertThickness - The thickness (y-axis in model) of the portion that inserts into the body.

Requires a 6mm M2 screw w/ nut for assembly.
