PRINT IN PETG/ABS!!!
My fiance was having issues with V wheel rail so I gave them the Creality Linear Rail Upgrade Kit for their birthday. Problem is, the mounting plate changed enough to where the Hemera mount we were using no longer fit. Uh oh. Worse yet, when I made this, there weren't any linear rail mounts for the Hemera XS in general. So, why not adapt the existing one?
Luckily, I have experience with modding others' designs using moderately jank methods (you're better off editing the STEP file of the original design or mine if need be to be honest, that's what I did). So, after chopping off the V wheel mount points from the plate, filling in the unused holes, opening up the new holes, undersizing the existing Hemera mounting holes, and adding slots to two of the Hemera bolts, we have our new plate, that fits exactly as the old one did.
Bonus points: you can take the plate and the printed mount off the linear rail without separating the two, as long as you take the Hemera off first.
PLEASE NOTE:
The bridging on the Hemera mount hole ledges can be very unforgiving to print. If your slicer allows the option to only print bridges on the first of those layers, or print the holes fully closed up, you might want to do that option. Otherwise, make sure you can screw the Hemera mount holes into the plate itself first and torque it down a bit before getting too carried away, otherwise you'll have to take it all off again just to get the Hemera bolts on there.
REQUIRES:
9 x M3x6mm bolts
2 x M3 bolts for the BLTouch
2 x M3 Nyloc Nuts (or standard nuts with blue loctite) to secure BLTouch
INSTALLATION:
CONFIGURATION:
Offset values for my fiance's install were as follows, using Duet RepRapFirmware 3.5:G31 X-41.5, Y-2, Z2.9 P500
I do not know if these are exactly accurate, but visually the nozzle and the BLTouch seems to both center on the same bed leveling screw (I FULLY recommend probing a bed leveling screw as a homing point as it is a fixed point of reference, and can make physical leveling easier with a four-point mesh that probes on the 3-4 screws (or as close to them as possible). It's saved me a LOT of time getting things dialed in as close as possible before running a high-resolution bed mesh every time I set up a new printer or physically move it to a new location.
The author remixed this model.
Adjusted to fit to the Creality Linear Rail upgrade plate. Requires 9 x M3x6 bolts for the Hemera, and room for a BLTouch mount. Position of BLTouch and Hemera are unchanged, i.e. no X lost and can fit a Noctua 40mm fan too.
