I recently damaged an adjustable tip on the end of one of my tarp poles (as seen in the photos) that operates to pull the tarp out and helps create a little more room underneath for my hammock. With that in mind I set out to design a replacement for the original part that was purchased here.
After several iterations, this is the version I came up with.
I printed this with PETG at 100% infill to get the maximum strength since this tip can get tugged on pretty well by wind.
The tip part has an 8mm O.D. at the shaft that tapers down to 4mm at the base. Print the tip on end as shown and use a brim to help stabilize it during printing.
The holes in the tip are 3mm and a slotted 3mm by 6mm.
The threads on the tip and nut are UNC 3/8"-16.
(note: updated file to add a relief groove to help during installation)
