The dry boxes i found so far did not fit my needs. So here is my take on that.

With this box it is possible to print directly from it. To lower the friction for non perfect angles to the printer i integrated a filament guide with MR73ZZ bearings.

The parts that gets screwed to the walls have an angle to take account for the scewed walls of the samla box.

The filament holder is designed to hold a M8 rod. It uses F8-16M axial bearings. Take a look at the "remixed from".

The top gets clamped to the box with window seal. To factor in the seal i remixed the samla clips from @Wookbert.

You'll need:

  • a Ikea Samla box, i use 45l
  • for 6 spools that fit in the 45l size: 24 MR73ZZ, 12 F8-16M
  • M8 threaded rod, 2* ~38cm
  • filament teflon tube
  • printed parts
  • 20 M5 screws, 12mm length
  • 20 M5 nuts

optional: silica gel If you have the problem that the M8 rod is turned if you pull a spool, then use some nuts to prevent that (see photo).

Of course you can use any other spool holder inside the box.

I am using this on a nearly daily basis and i am very happy with it.
