Another Pi 5 Case

I wanted a squat case for my Pi 5 and needed to house an extra fan to cool it.

Description

PDF

A squat case that houses a Raspberry Pi 5, Noctua Fan and bottom hat.

I have designed the sled to be used in several ways, one being this test bench. It uses heat press inserts to ensure the Pi is well held down. The heat sets are for the Pi - M2.5 4mm deep, 3mm 4mm deep for sled to stand, and finally M4 4mm deep for the fan.

Pi to Sled - M2.5 by 6mm for just Pi, M2.5 * 12mm for Pineberry and Pi (needs spacers to hold the Pineberry and Pi at the right distance).

Printing

Supports on sled, used normal and snug which worked well. Case needs organic tree supports for a couple of internal bits. End covers do not need supports.

Assembly

Use M4 4mm heat press inserts into the Fan holder on the sled. M2.5 4mm heat sets into the bosses for the Pi on the sled. Screw the fan and Pi onto the sled. Spacers needed for any bottom hats used.

Slide the sled into the main case fan first. It will stop on the power and HDMI will line up with the holes on the side. Then snap in the rear and front covers. All done.

Notes

Photos show sled printed in eSun PETG Grey and the end covers in Overture PETG Orange. PLA would be fine. The main housing is printed in eSun Chameleon PLA Galaxy Tech Black. Fan used is the Noctua NF-A4 10mm 5V 40mm.

STEP files included for remixing.
