This is a gas station created for an o-scale 1:48 model train layout. It can be scaled to fit any other scale or just printed for decoration.

I designed this model to be printed without an mmu or ams equipped printer by manually changing the filament at different layers.

The model prints in 3 “parts." I have included the color changes I used below to produce the model shown above:

  • The Base: including the gas pumps, poles, and building.
    • Red until 10mm
    • White for layers above 10mm
  • The Roof: prints in one piece.
    • White until 4mm
    • Red until 8mm
    • White until 12mm
    • Blue until 16mm
    • White for layers above 16mm
  • The Inserts: prints multiple door, window, and roof inserts.
    • Gray or White until 1mm
    • Black for layers above 1mm

Printing Instructions (Standard):
I recommend PLA with 0.25mm layer height, <5% infill, 2 walls, and no supports. Print using the orientations provided and follow the filament layer change guide above.

For reference, the amount of filament required for the entire model is about 250 to 350 grams depending on layer height, wall count, and infill used for each part. I used only 1 wall and only 2 top and 2 bottom layers for the roof because the inserts covered it anyway and it turned out fine - saved about 40 grams! I used 2 walls and 3 top/bottom layers for everything else.
