This design is to prevent a Magsafe compatible iPhone or case from falling out of a shirt pocket when the wearer leans over or bends down to pick up something.
I love the convenience of putting my phone in my shirt pocket, but there have been many times that I’ve bent down to pick something up or look at something only to have my phone fall out of my pocket and clatter to the ground. Even with a case and screen protector, my phone would always tend to land screen-down on a raised object — cracking the screen protector. I decided to design a Magsafe dock for the phone that would connect to my shirt pocket to solve this problem.
The pocket mag slides into a shirt pocket and provides the magnetic mounting point for the Magsafe-enabled phone. It has a directional plastic feature that slides easily over the pocket when being inserted, but grips when attempting to be removed. This keeps it and the phone from sliding out. It is also smooth enough that it doesn’t damage the fabric, and the whole thing can be easily removed by gently bending the plastic arm and pulling it away from the material.
I have extensively used this design in the top pockets of flannel shirts, and have had excellent results with it preventing many accidental phone drops. Your mileage may vary.
