Adapter plate for mounting a Thrustmaster T.16000M on a Virpil Desk mount with a V2/V3 Adapter.

Absolutely zero wobble, and allows almost 100 mm of horizontal distance adjustment. A bit finicky to screw in the first time due to the locations of the joystick screws, but works great.

I later thought about designing it to use Hex bolts, which is a much better idea, but I never ended up printing that one. That's what I would definitely print today though. Please let me know if you have any issues with that one.

Required bolts:

  • 2x M6x20 Countersunk head
  • 4x M5x14 Countersunk or Hex head + 4x M5 hex nuts

Installation

  1. Insert the four M5 bolts in the plate slotted holes.
  2. Being careful not letting the M5 bolts fall, screw the joystick to the plate with the two M6 bolts
  3. Mount the whole assembly on the Virpil V2/V3 adapter, inserting the four M5 bolts in the desk mount slots.
  4. Adjust your preferred position of the joystick assembly on the desk mount
  5. From bellow, move each pair of M5 bolts along the slots as close as possible to the joystick's M6 bolts(maintaining the desired joystick position) to make the structure as rigid as possible. Secure them with four M5 nuts. Since you can't grab the bolt head they can be a bit finicky to tighten, but after some back and forth they will catch and tighten up. It is not necessary to tighten them too much, the rough surface of the Virpil finish locks the plate in place without much pressure.

Notes:

I recommend positioning the plate with the M6 holes chamfers against the plate, so you don't need any support for the joystick rubber feet flat slots.

It is very important to use a strong 3D infill for this mount to minimize the wobbliness of the joystick.
I used Cura's Cubic Subdivision at 40% or 3mm and the whole structure is very rigid.
I also used 4 walls and 4 top/bottom faces but I am not sure how much these values affect the rigidity of the plate.
