To go with our light-weight hiking / bikepacking tent, I wanted a compact and light tent peg mallet.  I had a cup head bolt lying around, which gave me the idea of using this as the mallet face.  Stainless steel cup head bolts seem to have a larger diameter than galvanised bolts, plus they don't have raised letters with the bolt grade on the face, making them ideal for this application.

To be honest I don't remember exactly how the bolt looked, and it is already fastened in the handle.  It appears to be M12 x 65, so I have revised the handle design slightly to suit this size. The mallet will probably work with a ½" x 2 ½" imperial version too, although the face diameter will not match exactly.

The handle prints in two pieces, with 3 x 2mm holes so that filament can be used for alignment when glueing the parts together with super glue.  I printed mine in PLA, using a manual colour change for a nice look.  Because I revised the handle design slightly, I have also revised the .3mf file, which now is a single colour.  I used supports in the bores, but this may not be necessary.

NOTE! I placed the bolt into one half of the handle, after using filament for alignment dowels in the holes in the handle.  Then I added super glue to the mating faces and squeezed the halves of the handle together, clamping the bolt.  It is advisable to do a dry test fit, in case the bolt stops the halves from touching, in which case a bit of filing (or an external G-clamp) will help with the fit.
