I bought a cheap tib bar on Amazon (my specific model is the “XonyiCos” 1" plate version) and quite satisfied with the product. However, I was annoyed that the weight plates would sit directly on the flange screws that secure the loading pin to the body of the of the foot bars. While I wasn't concerned with the finish on my cheap weight plates, I still didn't want to compromise the screw heads and the safety of the equipment.
I designed a quick solution: a spacer that fits between the screws and the loading pin flange. Now the weight plates sit securely on the spacer and off the screw heads.
To use, simply unscrew the loading pin, remove the screws, slide the spacer down the loading pin, and replace the screws. There should be enough threads to securely screw on the nuts on the other side, since the screw heads are nested inside the spacer. For added safety, use threadlocker (Loctite or similar).
With so many tib bars sharing this flange design, I figured I would share the model here, in case anyone else had the same concerns, or wanted an idea of how to solve the problem on their specific model.
