A cute dinosaur that dispenses your tape!

Improvements over previous version

  • Stronger - I improved the stability in some places where pieces could snap
  • More Sizes - Added a new size for 19mm wide tesa tape. Additionally the rebuild is a lot more parametric, making it easier for me to upload additional sizes if requested
  • Improve multi color printing for the eye - previously the first layer was not printed. The new design ensures a nicer surface finish!
  • Improved cutting mechanism - Actually 3 even. You have the choice between a printed plastic cutter, one cut from a sawblade and one salvaged from an existing tape dispenser (the last option currently is only for the 19mm wide tesa tape version)

I made two designs. One with spikes on its back and one without. Both designs have versions for multicolour printing and for single color printing Make sure to pick the right STL files! The ones name _multicolor are obviously for multi color printing and the ones named _single are for single color printing.

Picking the right print profile and STL files

I split the print profiles by if they are multi color or not and by which cuter type is used. So first pick the print profile that has the cutter style you would like and uses the color style. Then within each print profile, all both designs (with and without spikes) are available in all sizes.

When in doubt, the printed plastic cutter is the easiest option!

Different Cutters

Printed Plastic Cutter

This one performes slightly better than the old design. The cutter is printed as a second part laying flat down. After it is printed, carefully insert it in the slot in the head of the dinosaur after you removed the support material from the channel in the head. Remember to print both the dinosaur itself as well as the matching cutter.

Sawblade Cutter

For this you need a blade from a hacksaw and some kind of multitool to cut the blade to length.

For this I also included a small “Safety holder”. The holder has a small slot that you can slot onto the blade and use as a reference for the size of the blade. Just cut it to the exact length of the holder. After that, carefully insert it in the slot in the head of the dinosaur after you removed the support material from the channel in the head. You can use the safety holder for this again to avoid cutting yourself.

Reused Tesa Dispenser Cutter

This cutter uses the metal part from the pictured tesa dispenser. It might also work with the metal cutters from other dispensers, if the metal part has a width of 21mm.

Simply open the two halves of the tesa dispenser and then you can easily slide out the cutter.

After that, carefully insert it in the slot in the head of the dinosaur after you removed the support material from the channel in the head.
