I designed this to expand on the “rings inside of rings” idea, and it gives this fidget a really interesting look and feel. It took six iterations to tune the tolerances, but the final version works great! Just give the model a few spins to loosen the joints after printing and it's good to go. I did the multicolor print with my X1 Carbon, but it can also be achieved with filament swaps at layers 26 and 51.

Be sure to use .2mm layer height for this print. It's necessary for the air gaps to print correctly :)

Print Settings:

  • .2mm layer height
  • 2 walls
  • 15-20% infill
  • no brims or supports
  • Be careful with the speed of the first layer and the rotating joints. These areas may need slowed down if you're having issues.

This fidget was inspired by the popular Rotating Rings Toy: https://www.printables.com/model/7876-rotating-rings-toy. None of the original files were used, but I'd still like to attribute the inspiration.
