UPDATE: After my wife accidently broke my last wrist rest, I decided to strengthen the joinery between the frame sections. I added a large dove-tail to both joints (MkIV.3mf files) and I think this makes it much stronger as well as making aligning the joints a no-brainer. After printing, I did a dry fit and filed a bit where necessary until everything fit the way I wanted. I then used a medium viscosity CA glue to assemble the pieces and clamped everything to a flat surface while the glue set-up. After that, I added a low viscosity CA glue to the joints on the back and inside where they will be covered by the cushions. The joints are made to be tight so it may helpful to use a negative horizontal offset, but this depends on your printer. The updated version is called MkIV in the files and features an extended wrist wrest to make gaming more comfortable.

Supports may be necessary in printing the cushions, but I just turned on “Make overhangs printable” and trimmed a little bit off the back corners until they fit perfectly into the frames.

I found the wrist rest that came with my keyboard was a little low and that it fell off a little too readily. Another minor annoyance was that, while the wrist rest could fold, it couldn't fold underneath the keyboard. I know this won't be necessary for everyone but I spent enough time designing and printing this that I thought someone else might find it useful as well.

It is a total of 11 parts, completed in 9 prints. The hinges on the left and right section are print in place with a 0.1mm clearance. The feet and cushions should be printed completely in TPU. The frames should be printed in something stiff that you can glue together.

The clips connected to the keyboard very firmly and will likely prove difficult to remove but I am hoping to be able to leave it on for the life time of the keyboard. If you want this to be readily removable you may want to edit the file before hand.

Post-Printing =============

Assembly

Start by placing a patch of painters tape on a flat surface to prevent unwanted bonding.

Apply your glue to the negative side of the left frame piece and press together with the middle section, using your tape patch to keep the bottoms flat together. Repeat for the right section.

One at a time, apply your glue to the negative side of foot impression and press the foot into place. It can be tricky to fit the flange all the way around, I used the back of a knife blade to carefully push the last bit in.

One at a time, apply glue to the frame side, ideally only on the bottom, and press the cushions into place.

  1. Clip one side of the wrist rest to the keyboard and then do your best to put the other side in. Full disclosure, I broke a bit off of my second clip and bent one of the tines before it went in but I don't think it will fall out on its own.
