I designed this planter to hang on the backside of my 23gal. The holes are big enough that a full grown neocardinia shrimp could fit through them. This is ideal for immersed plants, and the holes should accommodate root growth as well.

You could also stuff some moss in this and make it the perfect home for shrimplets.
