Use case:
If you have a sander, you probably get annoyed at how much saw they produce, even wearing a mask doesn't help, especially if you do projects indoors even in a ventilated space. By using shop vacuum connected to your sander, it helps reduce the micro dust produced by the cutting process. Lose the lame dust collector (shown in picture) and loop in your vacuum!
In this case, I use a Rigid shop vacuum (41mm inlet) and a both a Ryobi orbital and belt sander (36mm outlet).
Note: Might work on Rigid sanders too as both Ryobi and Rigid tools are manufactured by the same parent company, Techtronic Industries. Adapter might also fit other tools, just make sure your vacuum and tool are the correct size.
Adapter measurements:
Adapter inlet diameter (saw end): 64mm
Adapter outlet diameter (vac end): 45mm
Note: If fitment isnt tight, use some painters tape on the end that needs it to give it something to grab to.
