3D Catan Board Box

This box holds the 3D Catan board designed by Dakanzla and a few other prints used to make the Catan set I printed. Printing instructions for the box and links to all board pieces can be found below. The only parts that are not 3D printed are the Catan cards and the dice. You can buy a deck of Catan cards from Catan's website. Link

Catan Box

The box is a large print. Most printers are too small to print any part of the box in one print. The Lid, Lower Tray, Lower Tray Cover, and Tile Tray require a minimum build area of 290 x 280 x 210mm. The tile Inserts require 120 x 80 x 40 mm except for the Border Insert which requires 270 x 110 x 20mm. I recommend using the cut feature in the slicer to make the box printable in small printers.

I have uploaded a colored and plain version of the box. Each part has been uploaded as an STL, STEP, and 3mf. Pick your favorite file type and print one of each part.

For assembly, the four box parts stack in this order Lower Tray, Lower Tray Cover, Tile Tray, Lid. Each part can only stack one way.

For the Tile Tray, you will have to print the six tile inserts and then glue them into the Tile Tray. The Border insert goes in the largest slot. The middle slot will be Wheat, Sheep, and Wood in any order. Then in the front slots, it is Desert on the left and Ocean on the right. Some of the inserts are not bi-directional. Look for the side that has a smaller tile slot and point that side to the right. Please refer to the pictures.

For the cardholder, I have made slots in the Lower Tray with support for rubber feet. The max foot size is 12 x 12 x 12mm.

Packing

Other than the pieces listed below, most of the pieces only have one place they can go. Most of the tiles are loaded with the top facing right. Some pieces have to be packed in a specific way.

The harbors should be packed with the ships towards the outside of each slot.

The Wheat tiles should alternate sides with the trees lined up (refer to pictures)

The Ore and Brick tiles should alternate Brick then Ore. The Ore tile should be flipped to face the Brick tile. The kiln of the Brick tile should be on the bottom. Then the mountain on the Ore tile should be on top. (Refer to pictures)
