Magazines & Darts

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Foxbat uses half darts, and is compatible with pretty much every half dart on the market. Dart Zone half darts, Worker half darts, etc.

Foxbat is compatible with Straight Talon and Angled Talon magazines produced by Worker, and other magazines following the same spec

The blaster fits OutOfDarts Koda/Tachi mags if you use the shortened Straight Talon Grip, which has clearance for the decorative ribs specific to those mags.

The blaster does have enough clearance to use the super-short 10 round Talon and Angled Talon mags from Worker as well.

The blaster does not use Slim Angled Talon mags, such as those from the Nightingale, Diana, or DZ Venom Pro. The blaster is not compatible with Game Face Trion magazines due to their large decorative… lumps, nor is it compatible with Nerf angled Pro magazines, or Dart Zone Katana spec magazines (due to being not Talon spec).

Performance

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Foxbat with it's default 9" barrel is compatible with “slim style” SCAR barrels, such as the Worker friction fit SCAR, the 3d printed Whisker SCAR by Thanhtacles, and the Dart Zone friction fit SCAR.

For roughly estimating FPS for a given barrel and spring, the Foxbat is quite similar to the SLAB. So, if you know the FPS of a combo in a SLAB, it should be the same for Foxbat.

If you want to contribute FPS numbers, please leave a comment with your spring, barrel length and ID, what SCAR you used (if none, say no SCAR), what darts you used, and at least 10 shots worth of FPS numbers. I will then average out the numbers and add them to the list, along with your username.

Part Options

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Foxbat can be customized quite a bit by mixing and matching the available alternate files:

  • 2 grips, for Straight Talon magazines or Angled Talon magazines!
    • 2 versions of the Straight Talon grip, one is shorter to fit OutOfDarts Koda and Tachi mags.
  • 5 versions of the FrontSlide (Default, EndStop, Top Picatinny, Side Picatinny, and Bent Side Picatinny for pump action!)
    • There are also 3 variants of the side picatinny slides, with the picatinny on the left, right, and on both sides.
  • 2 versions of the BackSlide (With iron sights, and without iron sights.)
  • Optional T pull at the back for priming.
  • Optional split versions of the SidePanels, to fit on smaller printers!

Also, there are STEP and F3D source files available for you to customize the blaster even further yourself!

Print Info

Filament usage estimates (PLA filament) (including supports/brims):

  • All parts together: 971 grams of filament
  • Green: 506 grams
  • Orange: 105 grams
  • Black: 175 grams
  • Top Slides (White): 185 grams
    • Please keep in mind that this is an estimate, and it does not account for using variant parts with more or less filament usage (for example, the picatinny version of the top slide would use more filament).

All STLs are exported in their correct print orientations

There are .3MF files for Bambu Studio, with all the parts in each folder laid out on plates, in their correct orientation, and with correct infill/wall/support settings.

Make sure your slicer supports are properly tuned, with enough wall clearance and top gap between the part and the support. Stuck supports aren't fun on any 3d print, including these ones.

Note: If you plan to use a Talon Claw or Lynx spring (equivalent in strength to 5.5” K25 or more) in your Foxbat, I highly recommend that you print the SidePanels and Turnaround with stronger settings: 8 walls or higher, 50% infill or higher, as a preventative measure against parts wearing out prematurely.

The “default” print settings for Foxbat are 20% infill, 5 walls (I use Gyroid infill pattern).
Parts with different settings will have those settings marked in bold text

Black

  • 20% infill, 5 walls: BottomRail.
  • 20% infill, 5 walls, SUPPORTS: TriggerGuard, GripTop.
  • 20% infill, 8 walls: GripBottom.
  • 100% (full) infill, 8 walls: PlungerRod.

Green

  • 20% infill, 5 walls: Turnaround.
  • 20% infill, 5 walls, BRIM: PlungerGuide.
  • 20% infill, 5 walls, SUPPORTS: FrontBlock, SidePanelL, SidePanelR.
  • 15% infill, 5 walls: DartGuide, TriggerYoke.
  • 15% infill, 5 walls, BRIM: BackBlock.
  • 15% infill, 5 walls, BRIM and SUPPORTS: BarrelCover.
  • 100% (full) infill, 8 walls: CatchHolder.
  • If you are using the split side panels: The Panel pieces, and the ConnectorBrackets, all print at 20% infill, 5 walls, and the Panel pieces need SUPPORTS.

Orange

  • 20% infill, 5 walls: TriggerBar, TpullBack.
  • 15% infill, 5 walls: Muzzle.
  • 100% (full) infill, 5 walls: Ram, PlungerHeadA, PlungerHeadB, Catch, CatchPusher, CatchHolderPlate, TpullFront.

Top Slides (White)

  • 20% infill, 5 walls, BRIM: All the top slides.
  • SlideFront_wBentSidePicatinny needs SUPPORTS for the picatinny bit.

Assembly

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a full written and illustrated assembly guide for Foxbat, available as a PDF download in this Printables file repository :)

Its really good, go download it.

There's really good text and picture instructions for every aspect of assembling Foxbat!

Notes:

  • Make sure ALL the supports are removed from any parts with supports.
  • Remember to remove the built in supports from the picatinny rail dovetails.
  • Put the rubber plunger padding on the plunger face after assembling the plunger rod and two plunger head parts.
  • The frontblock barrel hole is pretty tight (on purpose, to hold the barrel rock-steady once locked in with the set screw). If you can't get a barrel installed easily, lightly sand the hole until it fits.
  • The assembly process is the same no matter which grip or top slide setup you use.
  • If you're using the split side panels, assemble them first. After that, assembly is all the same as the normal one-piece side panels.
  • When assembling the blaster, attaching the two priming slide halves together is the SECOND TO LAST STEP, and then attaching the T pull to the ram is the LAST STEP. Otherwise, the parts will block each other as you try to put them together. The correct order is important here.
  • Assembling the trigger spring is a bit finnicky. Just take it slowly, and make sure you are working in a place where you can find the spring easily if it goes sproing and flies away.

Misc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you print any of my designs, I'd love to see yours! Please consider leaving a Make on the Printables page, and leaving a review!

Thanks to Ian Whitehouse, SuperStressed, and OutOfDarts for photos.

Thanks to Medli20 for the awesome art of Foxbat & Kat from their Alderwood comic!

Thanks to ThePixelatedCat for doing the blaster mechanical animation via commission.

Thanks to Qin Liu for recommending the angled pump action on the top slide, its a good idea.

Thanks to Erenefc4511 for recommending I add a slide with a top pic rail. I forgot before lol.

FYI, the name Foxbat is from a motorcycle in the Xbox game Trials Evolution that I played a lot as a kid. Obviously, I know its originally from the jet. But it first came to mind as the bike, so that's what it is! It was only after the fact that a buddy pointed out the big brain pun of the Foxbat MIG (jet) being the name of the Foxbat (blaster) with Magazine in Grip (MIG). lol.
