Save filament, time, and frustration with this smaller model!

Big thanks to 3DPrintDemon for the original!

I was having trouble printing the original on my SV08 because of how badly warped my bed was, and I didn't have another printer capable of printing this to scale. I also didn't understand why there were 2 different parts when the bolt pattern is symmetrical*.

(Sneaky edit: It has come to my attention that the bolt pattern is NOT symmetrical. This is indeed correct, as the fasteners on the right side (350 X) are 2mm inboard from the left side (0 X). In practice it makes no discernible difference).

This part is now a single piece measuring just over 180mm x 180mm, perfect for a spare Ender3 or I even printed it on my SV08 in the center of the bed without issue.

Don't print this directly on your magnet. Seriously.
Don't hurt yourself cutting your magnet. Seriously.

How to use:

  1. Make sure your bed is cool! Remove bed plate, exposing the magnetic sheet below
  2. Place the jig at one corner lining up the 2 bolt holes already in the magnet (I started with the bottom left), keeping the “CENTER” hole in the middle of the magnet
  3. Mark the other holes in the jig, cut out the magnet at those spots (I used an 8mm drill bit slowly and carefully to not ruin the fasteners beneath)
  4. Move the jig to the next corner, lining up the holes, and keeping the “CENTER” hole lined up on the center hole you created in the previous step. Flip and rotate the jig as needed to repeat for the other corners
Note: There are 8 fasteners total along the perimeter, I did not have a fastener in the center
  5. Using a 2.5mm hex driver, carefully tighten the fasteners. Mine were not loose, but definitely not tight enough
  6. Make sure the magnet is flat around the new holes and replace the build sheet
  7. Heat soak and bed mesh, repeating the fastening process as needed to get a flat bed!

Total time (after printing) was about 15 minutes using a drill and deburring tool to clean up the edges of the new holes. I used a center punch but a sharpie will work just fine for marking the holes.

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

This is now a 1 piece print, and the total area is just over 180mm^2.
Able to be printed on an Ender3 (or similar) or even a SV08 with a taco bed!
