If you're removing the hard drive sled from an SE or SE/30 and replacing it with something like a ZuluSCSI or SCSI2SD, you'll most likely need a solution for the hard drive light (as it's attached to the sled directly).

This bracket screws in under one of the front panel screws and provides an appropriate spot to mount your hard drive LED.  To use this, do the following:

  1. Carefully remove the hard drive LED from the original sled.  Gently pry the retaining collar away from the metal using a spudger.  The collar is the large black ring holding the ‘bottom’ of the LED.
  2. Once it's loose, unclip the LED ‘sleeve’ so that you can slide the LED backwards and away from the sled.
  3. Remove the sleeve from the sled by squeezing and pushing through.

Reverse the procedure to mount the LED in the bracket.  You can then screw the bracket in to place and wire up the LED.  I found using Dupont extension wires will allow you to reach the ZuluSCSI even if it's mounted in the back pass-thru slot.
