This is an evolution of a device I have been using for over a year to assist with my weekly injections.
The current design can be either spring loaded (press the release lever to insert the needle) or just act as a guide for inserting the needle by hand.
It is compatible with Easy Glide™ 1mL syringes from Global, and BD 1mL Luer-Lok™ syringes, and can be adapted for other syringes as well - contact me with dimensions and I can help.
All parts can be printed with PLA or PETG, except injector-syringe-grabber-*.stl
which must be printed with TPU or another flexible filament.
A 6x10mm spring and a 16mm M2.5 screw and nut are required for the release lever. A piece of elastic cord is required to pull the syringe if that functionality is desired.
Please exercise caution with needles! I designed this device with safety in mind, but there is always the possibility of unforseen risk.
The device is designed so that the needle never comes in contact with any part of it if used correctly. Still, you should clean the device with 70% isopropyl alcohol to minimize the risk of infection.
Inspect the device for wear before use. Make sure the safety pin is inserted and that the release lever cannot be pulled before installing the syringe. Place the syringe in as straight as possible to ensure that the needle does not contact the device.
