Ornament Organizer

 I designed this box and lid combo to organize ornaments.  It is intended to hold shoe ornaments as a gift to my sneaker-head brother, but it could be used for anything!  

The box prints in two pieces, and is glued together edge to edge, with the two part epoxy in the pictures.  To make the lid, print out two copies of Part A, and one copy of Part B.  Both part A and part B are designed with 25mm of overlap, which provides ample room for glue and makes for a solid bond.  The Logo is then glued to the top once its ready.  

The shoes load in PrusaSlicer at all different sizes.  They need to be scaled in order to fit properly and look right.  We only need to adjust a single dimension on each shoe.  What is important is the heel to toe dimension, this will either be the X or Y axis.  In PrusaSlicer determine which axis is the heel toe axis by looking at the arrows in the front left hand corner of the build plate.  X is red and Y is the green arrow.  With the correct axis identified, we move over to the object manipulation window (in PrusaSlicer) and set the dimension of that axis to 60 mm.  In the object manipulation window we are using the bottom line labeled “Size.”  More simply put, make the heel-toe dimension 60mm and everything else will work out.

I printed all the shoes at 0.15mm Layer height and used support on the build plate only.

This was a fun print, even for a non sneaker-head.  With all the prints together and in order you can really track the design progression over the years.
