This is my model of an interpretation of 3D noughts and crosses (Tic-tac-toe) which aims to take the childhood game to the next level and dimension making a fun and more inclusive game for all ages. The bases is layering multi-sided/symbolled cubes together to form three in a row within a 3X3X3 cube (or more depending on the size of the game you wish to play) with different ways of wining as well as different playing modes, a few have been listed below:

  • First to form three in a row in any plain including through the centre cube wins
  • Most rows of three formed after forming a 3X3X3 cube wins
  • No set shape and playing either of the above game modes
  • Any of the above but the same symbol isn't allowed to touch another
  • And more…

To play the intended size, 27 cubes will have to be printed to accommodate for a 3X3X3 cube being formed but more or less can be printed for a variety of games. Within the files, there are 3 different styles with ranging difficulties of printing as well as 3 sizes for each model. (Note: When playing with style 2 there are separate cubes for each team to play with due to the nature of the design being biased.) I have included the Printing difficulties and basic settings in the table below:

Model NamePrint difficultySupportsBed adhesion
Style1NoughtsAndCrossesMediumYes(Tree)No
Style2 NoughtsHardYes (if fine tuned No) No
Style2 CrossesVery hardYes (Tree self placed)No
Style3 NoughtsAndCrossesVery easyNoNo

In my renders I've included a representation of a multi-colour print of the model that would be a really nice touch to add to the model and give it that extra flair. I'm planning to evolve this model further so follow for further updates. Please reach out if you would like .stp files to adapt upon the model and I would be happy to provide.

Happy printing!!
