Hey everyone,

I am kinda done with removing the 6 bolts to access electronics bay for my Voron 2.4 every time. I designed magnetic clips but I like the way how it opens with hinges, so hinges are there. However I don't like to use only VHB type for any panel for my Voron, so I made the panel a sandwich :D between two parts by using M3 bolts. Yes, you have to drill the panel.

I inspired by this mod by hernsl but just inspired I design everything from scratch with my twist on it.

You can use top piece of clips and hinges as a guide to drill but alignment is an issue. In order to solve it  add the magnets to corresponding parts then attach those to skirts, aligned the panel with top parts then carefully mark the holes.

M3s on skirt are sticked out intentionally, it kinda helps to align the door side clips.

Best way to drill an acrylic panel is using bits for drilling metals, something like this. You will need a M3 bit. Regarding how to drill acrylic sheets, Isik's Tech video can help.

Here is list of parts you will need;

  • 6 x M3x8 SHCS (Existing Bolts to install onto skirt)
  • 12 x M3x10 SHCS
  • 12 x M3 Heat set inserts 4mm depth
  • 16 x 6x3mm neodium magnet (N35 should be enough)
  • Optional: VHB type, If you like.

Here is the applied version, sorry for my terrible camera skill.
