Improved version of my original magnets with 5 new cats, slightly thicker (5.5mm) and embedded magnets.
I provided an Orca 2.1.1 profile for the MK4 where magnets are already placed and pause & color change are setup too. All you got to do is print the plate with the magnet size you have among 8x3, 10x3 or 12x3. Each plate will respectively needs 30, 20 and 20 neodymium magnets.
I get that's a lot of magnets but they are of a descent size. They mesure between 75 and 90mm depending on the largest dimension (width or height) and even 100mm in height for the scratching cat.
If you want to edit magnet quantity, placement, size, whatever… you can do it by editing the 3MF file and the “magnet cutout” subobjects. By default cats are blank and I used negative objects for more flexibility magnet-wise. Blank cats are provided as an STL.
I personnaly used 10mm magnet, holds few sheets of paper pretty well.
Slicing recommendations:
Pause at layer #17 (3.4mm) to place the magnets.
No need for a MMU or an AMS, you can manually switch filament at layer #21 (4.2mm). Color change is based on layer height.
Be aware that if you use a barely opaque white filament, the magnet may be visible through the top surface. So don't use really cheap filament.
Happy printing!
