I bought a cheap set of heat-set nut inserts from Aliexpress that came with the soldering iron and a set of 7 brass bits .

As this iron is only going to be used for the inserts I needed a secure way of storing all the pieces together.

The internal case layout was modified so the cord of the soldering iron is neatly wrapped around a pillar in the bottom of the case and two “flanges” with half-moon cutouts in the lid hold the soldering iron in place when the lid is closed.

I also incorporated different sized recesses with 4mm threaded holes into the bottom of each in the central area of the case bottom for storing the 7 brass bits. After cutting the heads off 7 M4x12 stainless screws, I carefully screwed the remaining threaded sections into the plastic threaded holes until around 3mm protruded above the central landing. The insert bits are then securely held in place on these threaded sections.

Thanks to the original design by Gabor Gyarmati my job was easy and looks professional.
