When spun on a flat, level surface, certain patterns may produce the illusion of shapes or patterns “floating” above the spinning discs surface. I achieved this effect using a combination of modeling, filament type, and slicer settings. All modeled in Fusion 360, a .2mm deep by .2 mm wide line extrusion is cut into the discs surface to define the pattern. Next a 3 color filament, in these cases, Blue Purple Black and Red Green Blue Silk PLA filaments are use to achieve the tri color effects. Finally, under Infill settings, set Top and Bottom infill patterns to Concentric. This will produce the circular like infill patterns on the top and bottom layers. You can save money by doing color changes just after the bottom two layers and before the first two layers on the upper pattern. This way you can use the tri color filament only for the tri color effect, and use a less expensive, single color filament for the infill and outer edges. This is not a necessary step, but merely a suggestion.
