75mm-tall HEPA enclosure filter

if you are printing ABS or ASA, but basically any material (even PLA!) without good room ventilation, this is a must!

I liked the original design as it was pretty minimalistic and smooth, but it didn't fit the parts that I had already ordered for this HEPA filter fan duct: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3070659

I still have to complete my build but the place where I am gonna laser-cut my acrylic side-panel of my enclosure is still closed during the summer break so I'll post an update soon.

to make sure you don't make the same mistake as I did, try to find the same parts as I used. I linked them below:

the filter I used: https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B08JQ22MRF?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

the fan I used: https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B09JG7DVMT?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

filament I used: https://www.3djake.nl/extrudr/durapro-abs-wit

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

I changed three things:

  • the total height of the filter duct to a total of 75mm. which was 89mm
  • the space for the fan, which was 27mm, but my fan was only 25mm thick so I reduced that part so the duct part could be longer
  • the space for the filter. the filter that I got was different than the one that is seen in the original model. so I had to change the dimensions. the dimensions of the filter that I used are 115x135x25 (those are the dimensions of the part of the filter that should be inserted into the duct

I used TinkerCAD to do this because I still find that the easiest way to edit STL files
