Overview:

This is an addition to the Gridfinity storage system designed by Zach Freedman of Voidstar Labs who “stole” it from Alexandre Chappel.  I made this storage box for a DeWalt Ratcheting Screwdriver Set.  It uses a 4x2 area of the grid.  The lid is held on with magnets.  The geometry features snap in for the extension and friction fit for the hex bits.  Magnets, screwdriver body, extension, and hex bits are not included.  I can't be the only one out there with an DeWalt Ratcheting Screwdriver Set and an addiction to 3D printing and Gridfinity…..can I?

Build Instructions:

  1. Print parts in your favorite material.  I used Black PETG from Atomic Filament for mine.
  2. 5/32 Dia x 1/8 Thick magnets (I used N42 material) get pressed into the four pockets in each the box and the cover.
  3. Pop all the pieces in place.
  4. Enjoy.

Print Tips:

  1. I used 2 perimeters and layer height of 0.2mm.
  2. Infill of 15% Gyroid (my personal favorite) even if I'm not going to see it.

Misc:

  1. There is an AVI file in the attached Zip file.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

A completely new box accept that it fits in the base 42mm grids.

  • Lid with magnets to keep it in place
  • Extension is held in place with printed in clips
  • Special geometry to hold hex bits in place with friction.  Not too tight, not too loose.  Your printer is different than mine, so you may have to tweak those dimensions.
