Getting ready for a trip to the beach?  Pack this along to keep yourselves entertained without a screen.

Key Features:

  1. Starfish and Seashells themed.
  2. Compact size with a snap lock to take on any trip - but not too small!
  3. Box stores all the game pieces in one place - optional: try 2 color print to accentuate the lettering on the box.
  4. Adds a 3rd dimension to a classic game!
  5. Removable grid that you can print in 2 colors to offer some variety.
  6. Print the eXes and Ohs in different colors too!

Printing Recommendations:

  1. Print with any filament you'd like, but use PETG/ABS/ASA if you intend to keep it in the car for long periods.  PLA is suitable for general use, but not for super hot days!
  2. For parts with the Shell and Starfish design (including the Lid), slow down the first layer to 15mm/s to help ensure that the small features stick well to the print bed.
  3. Make sure your print bed is clean.
  4. Use adhesion helpers for corners (provided in .3mf file).
  5. Use 2-3mm brim for the Grid (outside only).
  6. 0.2mm layers, 0.4mm nozzle, 2 vertical walls.
  7. Print 6x of each Shells and Starfish (trust me, you'll need extras).

TIP: To remove the adhesion helpers the easy way, use a deburring tool (for those that don't know, it looks like this).

Hinge Assembly Instructions (do this for both hinges):

  1. Cut a piece of filament about 5mm longer than the hinge length.
TIP: use PETG/ABS filament sections for a tougher hinge joint.
  2. Using a lighter or mini torch, heat up one end then press this end against a surface like a table to form a flattened “nail head”.
  3. Insert the filament through each hinge and trim length so that only 1 or 1.5mm sticks out.
  4. Heat up a soldering iron with a flat tip.*
  5. While holding the “nail head” pressed in place, use the soldering iron* to melt the open end to form the "other nail head” to lock the filament in place.

* Alternatively:  if you don't have a soldering iron, heat up the side of an X-Acto blade or anything metallic and flat (with a lighter/mini torch) and use that to press and create the "other nail head” - take care not to burn yourself!

***  WE INVENTED A FUN NEW GAME called DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT   ***

I gave this to my kids and they quickly invented a new game called DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT (Naming credit: my daughter J). Of course you can always play Tic Tac Toe conventionally.

How to play:

  1. Hold each piece about 4 inches above the grid, close your eyes, then drop it.
  2. If your piece lands on an open square, good for you, your opponent goes next.
  3. If your piece lands on anything except an open square, too bad, retrieve your game piece, your opponent gets their turn.
  4. With both luck and skill, you win TIC TAC TOE when you get three in a row!
