NACA ducts are often used as air inlets to cool electronics (particularly speed controllers) inside foam board RC airplanes because they are simple and efficient, but it's hard to cut one freehand without plans or a template.

This little guide will make that easy! When used with an X-acto knife or similar tool, it will help you cut a perfectly shaped small NACA duct into a piece of foam board. You could also trace its shape with a pencil onto the foam board before cutting if you prefer.

---

Make sure to place it on the inner surface of the material, so that when the score cut is cut, the duct naturally bends inward and not outward! You can put a dab of hot glue in the score cut before bending it for a little extra durability down the road.

--

Print out of any rigid filament like PLA or PETG with a layer height of 0.2mm! Use an 0.4mm nozzle or smaller for the best results with the text. (A color change can also be inserted before layer 6 to make the text really pop.)

Happy flying!
