This is the full case to enclose a Gizmo Revision Version 1.0 robot controller.  The main case body has three parts:

  • Gizmo_v1_Case_Lid.stl - the lid to go on top of the Gizmo PCB
  • Gizmo_v1_Case_Shelf.stl - the shelf area to go under the lid allowing access to the USB ports
  • Gizmo_v1_Case_Base.stl - The bottom of the case, with feet with screw holes to let it be attached to a robot

2 Buttons can also be inserted into the lid for accessing the Boot Select of the Gizmo Picos.

  • Gizmo_v1_Case_System_Button.stl - This button should be indented and go over the master/system side Pico, the one on the right if facing the USB connections while viewing the Gizmo
  • Gizmo_v1_Case_Student_Button.stl - This button should stand proud from the case, and goes on the student side Pico, making re-programming that pico much easier

Light pipes, part number LFC063CTP can be inserted to make the Main Gizmo LEDs more visible once the case is put on.

7 screws can be added to hold the case together.  These can be either M3 x 10mm Hex Socket Head Cap Bolts, or standard self-drilling #6 screws, ½ inch with pan head.

A piece of non-conductive tape can be placed over the port to access to power terminal

Alternatively, a case with labels and threaded inserts can be used, if your printer supports fine resolution and multiple colors.  E-Z LOK Threaded Inserts can be added into the lid and then #4 Machine screws can be used.

  • Gizmo_v1_Case_Lid_Labelled.stl - Alternate lid to go on top of the Gizmo PCB with labels and proper screw receiver size to accept threaded inserts
  • Gizmo_v1_Case_Shelf_Labelled.stl - Alternate shelf area to go under the lid allowing access to the USB ports with an arrow marking student side

If you use Blender, the full .blend file for this project is also available in files.  No final mods have been applied in the model, allowing tweaks to carve out sub assemblies to allow resizing and repositioning of almost any surface.  Full materials have also been defined in the file so it can be viewed in a full color render

Thanks Matt Lapolla from OKBest for enhancements to the case and labelling
