Have you ever seen a Ridge Wallet or similar and thought, “Man, that looks so simple, but I don't wanna shell out at least $10 for one?” Or, “I can do that for way cheaper!” Or even, “I wish there was a worse version that took time out of my schedule to build myself!”

Then check out the Valley Wallet, which is totally NOT a shameful copy of the Ridge Wallet! Just download the file, setup your printer, gather a few odds and ends, and get ready to save (a little) money!*

*Some assembly required

Odds and ends:

12 x M3x6 Flared Head screws

12 x M3x3x3 heat-set inserts

¾" elastic from Walmart (or better!)

  1. Print out of your favorite filament (PLA works just fine). No supports required, use whatever settings work best for you!
  2. Insert heat-set inserts into the two middle plates. Make sure the inserts rest either flush or below the bottom side of the middle plates, as these will be in close proximity to your credit cards. Some sanding or slicing off of excess plastic might be necessary, so be careful during this step!
  3. Get a sewing machine (or a needle and thread if you're old-school) and cut 2 strips from the elastic: 1x8in strip, and 1x4.5in strip. Sew 8in strip into a circle that fits around the middle channels of the two middle plates. The fit should be pretty tight, but not so tight that you can't pull them apart to put your cards in. Once you've gotten the fit right, sew the cash strap 4.5in strip onto the outside of the 8in band. It should go edge to edge on one side of the wallet.
  4. Place the elastic assembly around the two middles plates. Lock elastic in place with one of the end plates (side without the cash strap) with 6xM3 screws.
  5. Place the last end plate in between the middle plate and the cash strap, then lock it in place with the remaining screws.

Enjoy your new wallet! Impress your friends with your savvy know-how and utter disdain for high-margin fashion!
