Description
A 4-DoF animatronic eye mechanism that is completely 3D printed except for 4 MG90S servo motors. Inspired by Will Cogley's Snap-fit Eye Mechanism.
Degrees of Freedom
- Eye pan (left / right)
- Eye tilt (up / down)
- Left eyelid (open / close)
- Right eyelid (open / close)
Print Instructions
- No supports required
- All files are in correct printing orientation
- Designed to print at 0.4mm layer height
- Smaller layers will improve quality
- Each part should be printed once unless otherwise specified (eg. x2, x4)
Assembly
- Refer to “complete_eye_mechanism.step” for assembly
- The servo motors are omitted but their position and orientation should be self evident
- Some parts have 0.4mm tall runners to help with bed adhesion
- Cut them off with a knife or tear them off with pliers
- They should be easily recognizable, they should be 1 or 2 layers tall
- “frame_eyelid_servo_clip_left.step”, “frame_eyelid_servo_clip_right.step” and “frame_y_axis_servo_clip.step” each have 1 wide runner across the middle
- “x_axis_frame” has 4 runners
