I really appreciate Chris Borge's Open Ball Vise system, but I ran into problems with sourcing the hardware. I also found that I didn't need the lazy susan rotation or locking abilities of the index plate as the ball base was easy enough to spin around. Lastly, I wanted a metal vise and found that they are very cheap on Amazon. Here is the model I got ($9).

This uses 1" bolts (¼" x 20), ¼" knuts, and washers that will fit in the vise (something smaller than ¼").
Hope you enjoy it!
The author remixed this model.
Removes the Index Plate, the need to source a lazy susan, and the vise mount and instead is a single mount for a cheap aluminum vise.
