I designed replacement parts for a handheld wireless e-file to improve its durability, especially when used in wet environments. The original device had ball bearings that rusted easily, so I created an alternative solution without using ball bearings.
Components:
- Motor Adapter:
- A custom adapter to securely hold the tool and connect it to the motor.
- PTFE Bearing Cover:
- A bearing cover made from PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) to reduce friction and prevent rust.
- Internal Bearing Cover:
- Placed inside the PTFE bearing cover to further reduce friction.
Assembly Instructions:
Remove the Original Ball Bearings:
- Disassemble the e-file and remove the rusted ball bearings.
Attach the Motor Adapter:
- Secure the custom adapter to the motor to hold the tool firmly.
Install the PTFE Bearing Cover:
- CNC machine the PTFE bearing cover to the correct dimensions.
- Insert the internal bearing cover into the PTFE bearing cover.
Reassemble the E-File:
- Reassemble the e-file, ensuring all components are aligned and secure.
Notes:
- The PTFE bearing cover is CNC machined for precision. A 3D-printed version may work, but it has not been tested.
- This modification ensures the e-file operates smoothly without the need for traditional ball bearings.
This solution enhances the durability and performance of your handheld wireless e-file, especially for tasks involving water.
