I managed to break my LTT (Linus Tech Tips) water bottle - the ring around the cap that acts as a hinge and hold the cap while you drink. I was kinda sad at the very first moment, then I realized I have recently bought a 3D printer! One afternoon later, I got my replacement thingie.
As you can see on one of the images, there were some prototypes that didn't do well :-)
Print instructions
Printed in PLA, 0.1mm layers, supports only under the hinge pins. Printed in PETG as well. You may have to snap the “V” as it may get fused together while printing. This “V” is there so you are able to put the cap in the round hole. Once it is on the bottle, it is stable enough for everyday use and the cap shouldn't fall out - tested myself.
About the messy model
I upload the FreeCAD model (as I do with other models too), but this one is real mess (others are too, but less messy than this one). I made big mistake when I placed one thing early with intention to make it “disappear” later only to learn that if I cut it, half of the model disappears (due to dependencies). So I left it in place and cut to almost invisible narrow string that printer can't actually print. Very messy, but the only other option was to make the round shape once again and I really didn't want to. The STL file is editted (crudely) to not have this narrow line.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
