Here I present my self-designed Spreader Bar for any kind of bondage play. High quality spreader bars that are adjustable can be very expensive, so I decided to make my own. It saved me a lot of money in the end and I had fun making it.

I will provide information about the materials that I used and I add links when possible. Nonetheless it will be likely that you won't get the same materials or you want to use different materials, so my 3D printing models won't fit anymore. So this model is rather supposed to be inspirational and a “this is how it can be done, but you should design your own parts” instead of print, build and play.

Tolerances play a big role in this make and it can take some time to figure them out. There are two inner bars and one outer bar. So the one type of sliding bearing is supposed to be very tight to be fixed on one inner bar while it is supposed to slide smoothly inside the outer bar, while the second type of sliding bearing is supposed to be very tight on the outer bar while letting one inner bar slide smoothly.

I would say this was one of the main challanges. The other chellange is to drill holes in the bar exactly where they are supposed to be, so be very careful with that :)

If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know!

Have fun! :)

Features

My spreader bar can be adjusted from around 60cm to around 90cm (23 to 35 inches). In my view there are 2 advantages of an adjustable spreader bar compared to a fixed one.

  1. Different positions or Szenarios require different lengths. For example long spreader bar is good in a spread eagle position, while the same length can be impossible in doggy because of anatomy.
  2. It is way easier to store and hide.

Ankle or wrist restraints can be attached on the d-rings on the sides or on the to eye-bolts which are also used to adjust the length. With that you can create all kinds of exciting restraints. In this article you can get an overview. (NSFW!)
