Self designed caps for my self wrapped cybertruck using self measured wrap templates… Yes, this is yet another decorative tabbed wheel hub center cap design. Basic design, since we're being shipped proper ones soon… Used Overture TPU to reduce risk of breaking or causing other issues should this fall out, which is unlikely given how tight and snug a fit this is.
Test driven for ~9000 miles, from WA to CA, WA, NY, Toronto, Yellowstone WY, etc… back to WA.
Looked at, and tried out other designs first including https://www.printables.com/model/812096-cybertruck-wheel-center-caps-with-4-different-logo, but ended up sketching and CADing this from scratch after being frustrated with the fit of others. My Cybertruck was delivered May 4th 2024, maybe hub center dimensions have changed slightly since others created their designs 🤷.
Shared Vinyl/PPF wrap templates on github for free, ping if interested and I'll put in the effort to doc and share those… https://github.com/aaronse/cybertruck
Used Overture TPU 0.6mm nozzle, 0.32mm layer height, 30% infill, 40mm/s speed (very slow cause TPU…). Uploaded .3MF profile that includes settings that work for my V1 Engineering MP3DP v4 printer. Printed time 1hr 15min per cap.
Zero questions/comments from curious strangers about rusty wheel hubs after installing 🙂.
Used print bed plates with various textures (e.g. rough, mock carbon-fiber, triangle geometry, etc…), message me if you want details (used Bambu compatible 256mm x 256mm sized plates on my 250mm printer).
Donations greatly appreciated! This is the Bank's truck until I pay off their loan. https://buymeacoffee.com/azab2c Thank you!
