A flat, slim, sturdy sleeve-style case for a Kobo Sage eBook reader and Kobo Stylus 2.

The Kobo fits neatly in, with the lip along its largest edge forming the seal at the edge of the case. This keeps maximum dust out but also means you can plug in and charge your book while it's still in the case. Thumb holes for easy removal.

Kobo Stylus 2 slots down the side; you press in the little hole at the base to release it.

Instructions for making

  • Print the two parts separately - base and lid. (Both included in the same .3mf file.) 0.2mm layer height is fine for this.
  • Glue* a large square of 2mm-thick craft foam on the inside of the lid, and a tiny piece inside the stylus compartment. The model has built-in instructions for exactly where to stick it!
  • Glue the lid onto the base around all its edges, and along the internal divider between the main section and the stylus slot.
  • Leave it to dry for 24 hours.

 * I would recommend not using superglue/krazyglue/cryanoacrylate/CA glue for this. It reacts with PLA and causes it to give off white powder. This is harmless but will mess up your Kobo! (I made this mistake at first; it gradually wore off after a few months.) Ideally use a two-part epoxy resin - Araldite etc.

Instructions for using

  • Slot the Kobo into the case, with its screen facing the lid side where you stuck the foam. The foam will therefore protect the screen in case it gets bashed, and the thick lip at the edge of the Kobo will form a near-complete seal with the case.
  • Slot the stylus down the side compartment, with the point going in first.
  • To remove the stylus, poke your finger in through the little hole at the base.
